If the child becomes sick at school, the school contacts
the parents so they can pick up the child and we can plan the following
day.
It is the child´s over all well being that dictates
if the child should be at school or not. It is not always just a fever
that is the deciding factor; the child has to have sufficient energy
to participate in all school activities.
Stomach flu - the child has to be
home 48 hours without symptoms.
Fever - the child has to have 1 fever
free day before returning to school.
Medicine - all medicine should be
given at home with the exceptions of medicines that are life important
such as asthma, allergies, diabetes etc.
Eye infection - the child has to stay
at home until the eye infection is gone.
Streptoccal infections - such as strep
throat, scarlet fever, impetigo should be treated with antibiotics.
The child can return no earlier than 2 days after receiving medicine.
Throat and nose infection testing -
the child should stay at home while waiting for the test results.
Chickenpox - is very contagious and
the child is welcomed back to school when the poxes are dried.
Lice - if lice are discovered at school
then the parents will be notified directly so they can take the child
home to be treated. Just the person infected with the lice should
be treated with lice shampoo Prioderm in a combination with lice combing
(with a lice comb) daily 20-30 minutes. Family and school group should
also be combed and inspected daily for a two week period. The child
can return to school no earlier than 3 days after shampooing and combing
and when they are lice free.
Absent - please notify the school
in the morning if the child will be absent and please notify the school
1 day in advance before the child returns. This will help the teacher
in their planning.
